Black on Black

Sometimes you have to embrace the beauty, simplicity and upscale appeal of black. As a color fiend, this is rare for me, but today I'm giving in on a rainy, October morning. The slight drama of the peplum in addition to leopard pumps give it just enough to standout from your every day black on black ensemble.

Practical Reinvented

The corporate scene doesn't have to mean drab pant suits and lackluster attire. Today at work I channel the sunshine and boast bright yellow trousers contrasted with a charming, but fashion-forward exaggerated peplum top in black. The peplum is dramatic and trendy (notice the exposed back zipper) yet suitable for a business environment.

Exaggerated Peplum

I'm on board the peplum train and I squealed a little when I found this one with such an exaggerated one! The contour on the waist followed by a dramatic flare make for a figure flattering top! I belted it to break up the black with gold and per usual insisted on a pop; so I let the citrus pumps speak for themselves.

Peplum

After an extensive search, I finally found the perfect pair of distressed denim! Being short, I like that you can roll them at the ankle for a preppy look. Combining the casual jean with a flirty peplum top offsets the idea of "grunge" because of the torn threads. The final feminine touch is the classic black pump! Sorry, when it's 70 degrees in January, I can't help put reminisce on spring/summer with a pop of neon!

Jewel Tones

I think jewel tones are perfect for a fall or winter wedding. I wore this peplum number to a Friday evening soiree for the bride and groom. Stay tuned for the Saturday wedding attire.
